Freshman Rashaan Mbemba could be next CSU Rams star | College Basketball Insider

FORT COLLINS – An Austrian gym teacher may be responsible for the next big basketball star in the state of Colorado.

By the time Rashaan Mbemba turned 10 and grew up in Vienna, he was bored of football. For the next two years, Mbamba did not play any organized sport.

Then, his physical education teacher told him that he should probably pick up a sport or he would be at risk of becoming overweight.

Mbemba’s stats aren’t overwhelming — he’s averaging 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game — but it’s what he’s doing in his limited role that has been impressive. 

He’s the only underclassmen in Medved’s rotation and he’s answered any questions from the preseason about backing up starting big man Patrick Cartier.
